Isobar Science, in collaboration with the University of Miami Neptune Isotope Laboratory, provides U-Th geochronometry and high-precision analysis of Sr, Nd, Hf, Pb, and B isotopes using isotope dilution and wet chemistry. The isotope measurement is conducted on multi collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (MC-ICP-MS).
We specialize in U-Th dating, 87Sr/86Sr isotopic analysis, and 11B and 87Sr/86Sr environmental source tracking. All sample preparation is carried out in one of several class-100 laminar flow hoods. Sample digestion and chromatography occurs in a clean-room enclosure within two class-100 trace metal workstations ensuring both the lowest possible blank and the highest level of safety. All acid consumables are pretreated through a sub-boiling distillation unit.
Analysis occurs on a ThermoFisher Neptune Plus high-performance Multi-Collector Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (MC-ICP-MS). Instrument frontends/peripherals include an Apex-Q + Spiro TMD desolvating Nebulizer, and a New Wave Excimer 193 nm Laser Ablation system. Additional on-site equipment includes a high purity water system, centrifuge, a muffle furnace, balance/microbalance, ultrasonicater, vortex mixer, drying units and AirClean workstations.
